The weekly learning loop

How do roster resources, quarterback play, coaching and integration become football performance?

Five open questions from the Week 1 Review. Unresolved is a useful state. These hypotheses and conditions were created after the games; they are not preseason predictions.

Question 1 · Unresolved

Can FSU sustain offense when Daniels must pass?

A veteran label and productive rushing do not establish reliable passing.

Created Sep 12, 2026, 12:17 AM UTC

Working hypothesis and next action

FSU may depend on rushing, short fields and manageable downs more than its continuity-based forecast allowed.

At Alabama on September 19, chart obvious passing downs, protection, target depth, receiver availability and game state separately. Conditions are defined now, retrospectively relative to Week 1.

Question 3 · Unresolved

Why did Georgia Tech’s expected rushing advantage disappear?

The model credited a backfield and physical identity without proving the new line and scheme worked together.

Created Sep 12, 2026, 12:17 AM UTC

Working hypothesis and next action

New line roles and coordinator integration may be more consequential than backfield pedigree.

Review Tennessee at Georgia Tech, September 12; compare rushing failures with successful passing possessions.

Question 4 · Unresolved

Are related roster advantages being counted repeatedly?

A coherent story can still produce an indefensible line if the same evidence earns several adjustments.

Created Sep 12, 2026, 12:17 AM UTC

Working hypothesis and next action

Roster grade, rank tier, units, staff and continuity contain correlated judgments.

Build an evidence-to-component map and a simpler baseline; compare on future held-out games before adoption.

Question 5 · Unresolved

Which Week 1 performances change meaning with opponent context?

One game cannot isolate team strength from the opponent’s weaknesses or game state.

Created Sep 12, 2026, 12:17 AM UTC

Working hypothesis and next action

Some dramatic separation and some close finishes will look different after additional opponents.

Compare each reviewed team’s next games and opponents’ next games, including Stanford–Duke and FSU–Alabama on September 19.
